Hills House LLC is a specialized real estate developer established by Rus Wilson and Jerry Guidera to refurbish several historic buildings in downtown Amherst, Massachusetts. Our objective for this unique real estate venture on the site of the Henry Hills mansion is to create a cluster of historically significant homes that have been completely renovated, while maintaining the character of the historically important Dickinson National Register District.

FOR SALE: Henry Hills Mansion - 38 Gray Street

38 Gray

Henry Hills House - built 1863

We acquired the Henry Hills mansion on its three-acre plot from a local developer in January 2008. At the time, the three acres of land included the Henry Hills House, the newly relocated Chapin-Ward House, and four building lots on Main and Gray streets. In April, through the generosity of Amherst College, we expanded the scope of our project by tapping Payne Construction Services Inc., of Strafford, NH, to move two more 19th century buildings from the College's property to our lots, as outlined below. The Tuttle Farmhouse was relocated from "Fort Hill," off South East Street, to 14 Gray, and the Potwine House, from Spring Street, moved to 32 Gray.

The Chapin-Ward House sold in February 2009. The Potwine House sold March 2009. The Tuttle Farmhouse renovation as a two-family home was completed in October 2010. All restoration work is performed by F.R. Wilson, a respectedlocal builder with over 30 years of experience.

Each building in our project is rich with history. To read a "biography" of each house, click on the following links: Henry Hills House, Tuttle Farmhouse, Potwine House, and Chapin-Ward House. Our great appreciation to neighbor Ed Wilfert for his summaries and research.

The Boston Globe published a feature article by Aubin Tyler about our project March 21, 2009 .
